What is the difference between Net Fringe and Add Fringe?
- Budgets for most payroll object codes require an additional budget item for fringe benefits. Choosing Net Fringe will deduct the fringe budget from the payroll budget you entered and add that amount in a new line for the fringe benefit budget. You now have two lines instead of one, but the sum total is the same.Choosing Add Fringe will leave the payroll budget line as is, and calculate and add the new line for the fringe benefit budget. The two lines together will be more than what you originally entered, so you will need to increase the amount in the offset line to balance your budget change.
Why don’t I see the Add Fringe and Net Fringe buttons when I call up the edoc?
- Add Fringe and Net Fringe buttons are not needed unless you are using payroll object codes that require fringe benefits budgets. They will appear once you have entered an object code that requires the function.
When is the net Fringe and Add Fringe required?
- Whenever you use a payroll object code that requires a fringe benefits budget, the function is required to adjust the fringe benefits object code budget.
What does the Reset button do?
- It reverts any calculations back to what you entered before you clicked on the Net Fringe or Add Fringe button.
Why would I use the Reset button?
- Whenever the calculations for Add Fringe or Net Fringe are not as you think they should be and you want to start over, you can use the reset button.
When does the Reset button display?
- After you use the Add Fringe or Net Fringe buttons, they are replaced by the Reset button.
How many times can I use the Reset button when using Add Fringe or Net Fringe?
- You can use the Reset Button three (3) times.
When I use Add Fringe or Net Fringe there are two Increase and Decrease Totals which show different results. Why?
- Net fringe leaves the sum totals the same, but add fringes increases the sum totals.

I used Add Fringe but the increases do not equal the decreases. Why? How do I fix it?
- Adding fringe will increase one side of the budget change but not the other. You must change the offset to bring it in balance.
